The European Court of Justice has just ruled that France and Luxembourg cannot apply the same value-added tax rate to e-books as is used for printed books.
Which means that in France the VAT on e-books will now go up to 20% from 5.5%. And it’s the authors who will suffer in the long run.
This is a book (VAT 5.5%).
This is a book, too (VAT 20%).
