Behrouz Boochani’s NO FRIEND BUT THE MOUNTAINS has won the State Library of New South Wales’ 2019 National Biography Award! The award, worth AU$ 25,000, was announced on 12 August.
The judges praised NO FRIEND BUT THE MOUNTAINS for its ‘poetic and epic writing’, calling it ‘profoundly important, an astonishing act of witness and testament to the lifesaving power of writing as resistance.’
